This Privacy Policy (hereinafter referred to as the "Policy") provides information on why STORENT SIA collects, uses, or shares your personal data in connection with your relationship as a customer of STORENT SIA. Please read this Policy carefully.

STORENT SIA values your privacy and the protection of your personal data, respecting your rights to lawful processing of personal data in accordance with applicable laws, including Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data (the "Regulation"), as well as other applicable privacy and data processing legislation.

In view of the above, STORENT SIA has developed this Policy to provide you with the information required under the Regulation.

STORENT SIA adheres to the following fundamental principles of data processing:

  • Personal data is collected only for clearly defined and lawful purposes;

  • Personal data is processed lawfully and fairly;

  • Personal data is kept accurate and up to date;

  • Personal data is stored securely and no longer than necessary to achieve the specified purpose or as required by law;

  • Personal data is processed solely by STORENT SIA employees whose job duties require such processing or by duly authorized individuals.

This Policy applies to data processing regardless of the form and/or medium in which you provide personal data to STORENT SIA.

2. COLLECTION OF PERSONAL DATA
STORENT SIA is responsible for the personal data provided directly by the User (an identifiable natural person) to STORENT SIA (by filling out application forms, entering data into applications, communicating with STORENT SIA via social media, or visiting STORENT SIA customer service centers), as well as for any personal data obtained by STORENT SIA through other means for the fulfilment of contractual obligations.

The personal data that STORENT SIA collects includes, for example, the following categories of data:

  • Basic data, such as first name, last name, date of birth, personal identification number, and data from identification documents;

  • Contact details, such as email address, physical address, phone number, job title at the represented company, and authorization data, preferred communication language settings. Contact details also include the content of communications—emails, letters, faxes, and employee notes about the content of the conversation;

  • Information related to customer relationships, such as history of prepared offers, order history, rental transaction history (rented equipment, rental start and end dates, rental equipment usage address, additional services used);

  • Insolvency assessment and debt-related data (including debt amount, start and end dates of the debt, and other data received by STORENT SIA from debt recovery or credit information companies);

  • Other data generated within the scope of contract execution.

 

3. PURPOSE AND LEGAL BASIS FOR PROCESSING PERSONAL DATA
STORENT SIA processes personal data for the following purposes:

3.1. Identification and Provision of Services
The purpose of collecting your personal data is to identify you (including through digital solutions, such as Smart ID), provide you with STORENT SIA services, fulfil or prepare contracts, and manage and maintain customer relationships between STORENT SIA and you or your company, which you represent as a manager, authorized person, contact person, or in any other capacity. The legal basis for processing personal data is the contract between you or the company you represent and STORENT SIA.

3.2. Data Related to Creditworthiness Assessment and Debt Recovery
STORENT SIA also processes your personal data to assess your creditworthiness. In the event that you fail to make timely payment of invoices, STORENT SIA may transfer your personal data to a debt collection company (e.g., BaltRisk) and/or include your information in one of the debtor registries, such as the Kredītu Informācijas Birojs. In such cases, the legal basis for processing personal data is STORENT SIA's legitimate interests in protecting its interests and the legal interest of STORENT SIA in receiving payment for its services.

3.3. Data Related to Financial Accounting
In order to fulfill STORENT SIA’s obligations in accordance with applicable accounting and tax laws, STORENT SIA will process your personal data to the extent and within the period required by these laws.

3.4. Marketing
STORENT SIA may use personal data to contact you, send you information related to the services provided by STORENT SIA, inform you about changes in the products and services offered by STORENT SIA, as well as to invite you to provide feedback on STORENT SIA's products or services. The legal basis for processing this data is Section 8 of the Electronic Communications Law.

STORENT SIA may send you commercial notifications about STORENT SIA’s products and services, marketing campaigns, and other services. STORENT SIA provides you with the option to opt-out of receiving commercial notifications at any time by using the email address: privacy.lv@storent.com.

Additionally, within the scope of personal data processing, STORENT SIA may perform profiling to personalize offers and provide you with the most relevant content.

3.5. Video Surveillance
STORENT SIA reserves the right to collect video information (via video cameras) to ensure the security of employees, other data subjects, and property. You will be informed about ongoing video surveillance through informational signs featuring the video camera symbol and STORENT SIA’s contact details, which will be placed at the entrance area or in rooms that are being monitored. Rooms where a data subject reasonably expects complete privacy of personal data will not be subject to video surveillance.

 

4. DISCLOSURE AND TRANSFER OF PERSONAL DATA
STORENT SIA does not sell or otherwise transfer the User’s personal data to third parties.
Data is disclosed to those STORENT SIA employees who require it to perform their direct duties in order to complete a transaction and/or enter into the relevant service agreement.

STORENT SIA may transfer the User’s personal data to:

  • STORENT SIA’s contractual partners and subcontractors, who, as processors and sub-processors, provide services in accordance with STORENT SIA's instructions;

  • authorities or legal service providers if there are suspicions of criminal or inappropriate activities;

  • authorities, legal service providers, or other parties if required by law or a court order.

STORENT SIA only transfers the User's personal data to trusted third parties. To ensure that the User's personal data is processed in accordance with applicable privacy laws, STORENT SIA carefully selects its partners.

 

5. TRANSFER OF PERSONAL DATA OUTSIDE THE EU/EEA
STORENT SIA does not transfer your personal data outside the European Union or the European Economic Area.

 

6. COOKIES
When Users use the STORENT SIA website, information about usage may be stored as cookies. Cookies are passive text files that are saved in the User's device's internet browser, such as a computer, mobile phone, or tablet, while using the Service. STORENT SIA uses cookies to enhance the User’s experience of the Service and to gather information, such as usage statistics of the Service. This is done to provide and improve the Service. Occasionally, the information collected through cookies may contain personal data, and in such cases, it is governed by STORENT SIA's Cookie Policy.

The User can disable the use of cookies at any time by changing the settings on their device. Disabling cookies may affect the performance of the Service, and some features of the Service may not function properly.

 

7. RETENTION OF PERSONAL DATA
STORENT SIA will retain your personal data for as long as it is necessary in relation to the purposes for which it was collected and processed. The retention period for commercial documents, including accounting documents and accounting records, is 5 or 10 years.

 

8. YOUR RIGHTS
You have the right to request in writing information about the personal data processed by STORENT SIA by using the contact information: privacy.lv@storent.com. You are entitled to receive one (1) copy of the personal data processed by STORENT SIA that pertains directly to you, free of charge. For additional copies requested, the Data Controller has the right to charge a reasonable fee to cover the administrative costs of such requests.

If necessary, you may request in writing the correction of any inaccurate personal data using the contact information provided in Section 11 of this Policy or by using the functionality available on our website.

You have the right to request the deletion or restriction of processing, as well as the right to object to processing, based on Articles 17(1) and 17(2) of the Regulation.

These rights do not apply if the personal data requested for deletion is processed on another legal basis, such as when processing is necessary to fulfill a contract or an obligation under applicable laws.

You have the right to withdraw any consent you have given to the Data Controller for processing. However, exercising this right may mean that you will no longer have access to certain STORENT SIA services.

In certain circumstances, you have the right to data portability, which includes the right to obtain your personal data and transmit it to another data controller, as long as it does not negatively impact the rights and freedoms of others.

You have the right to submit a complaint to the supervisory authority (the Data State Inspectorate) regarding the processing of your personal data if you believe that the processing of your personal data violates the applicable privacy laws.

You also have all other rights under the Regulation.

 

9. SECURITY
STORENT SIA prioritizes the protection of personal privacy and actively works to ensure that User personal data is processed with the utmost care. STORENT SIA takes all necessary measures to ensure that User and other personal data is processed securely and in compliance with this Policy and the Regulation.

However, as the transmission of information over the internet and mobile networks is often associated with risks, the person who transmits the data assumes all such risks. It is important that you also take responsibility to ensure that your data is protected. You are responsible for keeping your username and password confidential.

 

10. CHANGES TO THE POLICY
STORENT SIA reserves the right to modify or update the Policy at any time. The latest version of the Policy will always be available on the STORENT SIA website. The new version will be considered notified to Users if the User has either received an email informing them about the new version (using the email address provided by the User for communication with STORENT SIA), or if the User is informed about the new Policy in another way.

12. RIGHT TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THE SUPERVISORY AUTHORITY
You have the right to file a complaint with the supervisory authority (the Data State Inspectorate). Documents can be submitted to the Data State Inspectorate by mail, via email (with a secure electronic signature), or placed in the mailbox on the 1st floor at Blaumaņa Street 11/13, Riga. The Data State Inspectorate accepts email submissions at the email address info@dvi.gov.lv.
